Cannes Winner Anthony Chen Produces His First Malaysian Feature, “Somewhere in the South”

Written and directed by Tan Ce Ding, "Somewhere in the South" is a Malaysian feature film produced by none other than Singaporean filmmaker Anthony Chen alongside Edward Lim, a long-time collaborator of the director. The film has been selected for the Hong Kong-Asia Film Financing Forum (HAF), which will take place on the 17th to 19th March 2026 in Hong Kong.

Having won the Caméra d'Or at the 2013 Cannes Film Festival for his debut film, "Ilo Ilo", Chen requires little introduction in the world of Asian cinema. Chen also co-directed "The Breaking Ice", the Singaporean entry in the Best International Feature Film category at the 96th Academy Awards and "Please Hold The Line", his short film that has previously premiered at major film festivals including Venice International Film Festival, Clermont-Ferrand, and Golden Horse.

Set in a declining southern Malaysian town that briefly becomes the subject of public attention, "Somewhere in the South" follows a restless young man who becomes involved with a group promising change, after being asked to wear its tiger mascot suit, only to find himself losing his sense of identity behind the costume.

"This is my debut feature, a project I have been developing over the past year. I'm very excited to finally work on a subject that feels distinctly Malaysian, yet remains largely unexplored on screen," said Tan Ce Ding. "The script has been developed across different countries through focused international development programmes, and I just returned from Tokyo last month, where the project underwent further development. Entering HAF marks an important step forward, and I look forward to working closely with Anthony as the film continues to take shape."

"I've long admired Tan Ce Ding's bold short films," shared Chen, speaking openly about his admiration for Tan's work. "CD, as we fondly call him, is exactly the kind of exciting new voice we're seeing rise in Malaysian cinema. His first feature, with its remarkable honesty and ambition, captures the growing confidence and urgency of this movement. I look forward to working with him to elevate "Somewhere in the South" for the international stage."

As of now, the film is still in script development and thus does not have a release date yet. However, it's set to have dialogue in Cantonese, Malay, and English, and will be presented at HAF, where selected teams engage with international producers, financiers and industry partners.

When Speed Meets Precision: CelcomDigi’s 5G Challenge With Malaysian Champions

CelcomDigi Berhad ("CelcomDigi") has unveiled a short film featuring two world-class Malaysian athletes in a coordinated challenge designed to demonstrate the real-time responsiveness made possible by 5G connectivity. The film entitled "An Epic Showcase of 5G" brings together Soh Wai Ching, the World's No. 1 towerrunner, and Qabil Irfan, motorsports rising star and FIM MiniGP World Champion, in a synchronised test where timing determines the outcome.

In the film, Soh Wai Ching, who recently set a new record in the Malaysia Book of Records for the fastest climb up Exchange 106, sprints up 106 floors to hit a buzzer, while Qabil Irfan races along a track where a gate narrows continuously. The challenge depends on whether the buzzer is activated before the gate closes, highlights how timing, accuracy, and connectivity must work in perfect sync to achieve a single outcome. The experience is crafted to help viewers feel the difference that ultra-speed and real-time responsiveness can make, whether in mission-critical actions, remote operations, streaming, gaming, or everyday digital use.

"5G services open new possibilities for how people live, work, and enjoy digital content. As the country's widest, fastest, most secure network, Malaysians are already enjoying high-quality 4G on CelcomDigi's network, and the company has enhanced this with seamless 5G connectivity for faster, improved internet. All of its 20.5 million customers are provisioned for 5G, supported by device programmes that simplify upgrades. This has contributed to steady 5G adoption and reinforced CelcomDigi's leadership in next-generation connectivity.

HK Actor Felix Wong Comes Clean About Rumoured Romance With Actress Emily Kwan

Dating rumours are common for celebrities, but it can be damaging to one's image if the rumours aren't true. Recently, Hong Kong actor Felix Wong (黄日华) came clean about his relationship with actress Emily Kwan (關寶慧) after years of speculation.

A few months ago, Felix and Emily had their long-standing dating rumours reignited after actor Simon Yam (任達華) hinted that the two were an item. Rumours of the two stars dating began in 2021 after photos of them dining together at a restaurant. However, the actor's daughter and Emily both denied the rumours.

SOURCES: FACEBOOK (Felix Wong Yat Wah) & INSTAGRAM (@emilykwanpowai_4544)

During a recent appearance at actor Lo Hoi Pang's (盧海鵬) concert, Felix cleared the rumours surrounding him and Emily in front of over a thousand audience members. On stage, the 64-year-old emphasised that he's currently single, thus officially denying any romantic involvement with Emily.

A big reason why Felix and Emily's relationship has attracted so much attention is because of the actor's late wife, actress Leung Kit-wah (梁潔華). The late star passed away in 2020 after a seven-year battle with leukaemia. In her final years, Felix devoted his time and effort, and even stopped working, to care for her.

SOURCE: FACEBOOK (Felix Wong Yat Wah)

Most notably, the former TVB actor also promised that he would never remarry after her passing. As such, many took any possible romance rumours as a sign of Felix breaking his promise and betraying his ex-wife. Some even criticised him when rumours of him dating Emily first emerged a few years ago.

At least Felix has come clean about his current status, which means fans can rest easy. However, we hope the public could still support him if he does end up going back into the dating scene. What are your thoughts on this?

(Video) Aaron Kwok’s Daughters Show Off Impressive Dancing Skills To BABYMONSTER’s “PSYCHO”

Hong Kong superstar Aaron Kwok (郭富城) is known for his impressive dancing skills that have captivated fans across the globe and earned him the nickname, "Asia's Dancing King". As it turns out, his two older daughters have also inherited his talents!

Aaron's wife, Chinese model Moka Fang (方媛), recently uploaded a video of the couple's two older daughters, Chantelle (郭咏希) and Charlotte (郭泳萱), with the caption, "Older and younger sisters who love to dance". In the video, the 7-year-old and the 5-year-old were dancing to the song "PSYCHO" by K-pop group BABYMONSTER (베이비몬스터).

Rather than freestyling the moves, the two danced to the song's official choreography, which included many intricate moves. Despite their young ages, Chantelle and Charlotte were both precise and fluid in their movement, dancing to the choreography with ease. The two also didn't appear awkward or off-beat and seemed to be naturals at performing.

The video caught the attention of many netizens, who praised the two sisters for their dancing skills. Many quipped that Chantelle and Charlotte had inherited their dad's talents for performing, with some saying that they are indeed the daughters of "Asia's Dancing King". Others even joked that the two are ready to make their debut.

SOURCE: INSTAGRAM (@mokafy)

This isn't the first time Moka has gushed about her daughters' dancing skills. In the past, the mother-of-three has also shared videos of the two sisters dancing to their father's songs while at his concert. In a video from a couple of years back, Charlotte also danced to BLACKPINK's Jisoo's "Flower" in front of her father.

It's clear that the two sisters are natural-born performers. And by the looks of it, at this rate, Chantelle and Charlotte will be professional-level dancers by the time they're in their teens. Perhaps Aaron could start considering featuring them in his shows.
