When Does 'Yellowstone' Season 5 Come To Peacock? Not Soon Enough

The Dutton family saga is coming to a close — for one generation, that is. Paramount announced Yellowstone is ending with Season 5 and another sequel is in the works. While the first half of the newly announced final season has already aired, the cast has only recently begun filming the second half. So when will the rest of Yellowstone Season 5 air and when, if ever, will it come to Peacock? Here’s everything you need to know.

Is Yellowstone ending?

Sadly, yes. Taylor Sheridan’s wildly popular modern day western that kicked off an entire franchise of shows, including 1883 and 1923, is ending and Season 5 will be the last. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the series’ final episodes will start airing this November and Paramount is moving forward with a new sequel that will have Yellowstone in its name.

Yellowstone has been the cornerstone on which we have launched an entire universe of global hits — from 1883 to Tulsa King, and I am confident our Yellowstone sequel will be another big hit, thanks to the brilliant creative mind of Taylor Sheridan and our incredible casts who bring these shows to life,” Chris McCarthy, president and CEO Showtime/MTV Entertainment Studios, said in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter.

“The Dutton story continues, picking up where Yellowstone leaves off in another epic tale. We are thrilled to bring this new journey to audiences around the world,” 101 Studios CEO David Glasser added.

Which seasons of Yellowstone are streaming on Peacock right now?

Seasons 1 through 4 of Yellowstone, which follows the Dutton family under the leadership of patriarch John Dutton (Kevin Costner), are available to stream on Peacock right now. The fifth season is still unavailable, but it will indeed be coming to Peacock later this year.

When will Yellowstone Season 5 come to Peacock?

Peacock has not offered a release date for Season 5 of Yellowstone, but it could realistically be available to stream within a month or so after the final episode airs on the Paramount Network channel. When Paramount debuted Season 4 in January 2022, Peacock made the same season available just two months later in March 2022.

As the first half of Yellowstone Season 5 premiered in November 2022 and the next batch of episodes set to air this fall, it seems likely that Peacock subscribers will get to watch the new season before the end of 2023.

Why isn’t Yellowstone streaming on Paramount+?

Even though Sheridan’s popular Dutton family spin-offs like 1923 and 1883 are available to stream on Paramount+, Peacock currently has exclusive streaming rights to Yellowstone. That’s because Yellowstone premiered in 2018 before the Paramount Network’s streaming platform, Paramount+, launched in 2021. And Yellowstone will reportedly remain on Peacock for quite some time. Screenrant reports that Peacock “will retain the rights to the series until four years after the final episode airs.”

The new Yellowstone sequel, however, will go straight to Paramount+, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Where can you watch Yellowstone Season 5 right now?

You can watch the first eight episodes of Yellowstone Season 5 on the Paramount Network channel, not Paramount+, so you will need a cable subscription to watch the first half of the latest season. Don’t have cable? You can snag a free 24-hour viewing pass through the network or sign up for Philo or SlingTV, which both offer free trials.

You can also purchase Yellowstone Season 5 on Amazon Prime for $39.99. That includes Part 1 and Part 2, but only the first eight episodes are currently available to stream.

When will the second half of Yellowstone Season 5 premiere?

This fall. Paramount previously announced that the next six episodes would air in Summer 2023, but that has since been pushed to November.

So, as we wait for Season 5 of Yellowstone to drop on Peacock, whenever that may be, you can always go back and rewatch the first four seasons. Or check out the prequel series 1923 and see Helen Mirren and Harrison Ford as a different generation of Duttons.
