Drawing on this long-standing heritage, the German Maison has unveiled the RIMOWA Classic Aluminium Grid, a numbered limited-edition collection consisting of 1969 pieces, that revisits an archival design with contemporary details and materials.
The Grid collection reinterprets RIMOWA's iconic grooves using a structured, geometric grid pattern. The design takes reference from the German Maison's archive hand-carry cases developed in 1969. At the time, these pieces reflected an era defined by technical precision, modular thinking, and a strong relationship between form and function.
The collection's defining feature is its embossed grid design, pressed into RIMOWA's Silver aluminium. The pattern introduces a striking visual effect while maintaining the strength and durability synonymous with RIMOWA's engineering. Inside, the case features refined leather details and a soft quilted lining echoing the grid pattern, extending the design throughout the case.
Crafted in RIMOWA's historic Cologne factory, each piece is backed by the German Maison's lifetime guarantee, a testament to RIMOWA's long-standing expertise in aluminium craftsmanship. Signature Classic components, including leather handles, shiny palladium locks, and airplane-debossed rivets, lend the collection its distinctive character, while RIMOWA's smooth-rolling Multiwheel system and stage-free telescopic handles ensure modern performance.
A hallmark of the Grid collection are the leather touchpoints reimagined in an elegant blue hue, paying homage to a historic RIMOWA shade and reinforcing the collection's archival roots, whilst adding a distinctive touch. Custom components, such as a complimentary leather luggage tag with an archival logo, and a numbered limited-edition badge further distinguish each piece.
Launching across various sizes, including a Hand-Carry and Cabin Case, the RIMOWA Aluminium Grid collection will also feature a Trunk size, marking a first for an archival special edition launch. Reflecting the Maison's ongoing dialogue between heritage and innovation, the collection revisits a historic design language for today's traveller.
Starting 26th March 2026, the RIMOWA Classic Aluminium Grid Hand-Carry Case in Silver (RM10,350), the RIMOWA Classic Aluminium Grid Cabin in Silver (RM12,100), and the RIMOWA Classic Aluminium Grid Trunk in Silver (RM14,400) will be available at RIMOWA stores worldwide and online.
