Elaine Ng's (吴绮莉) relationship with her daughter Etta Ng (吴卓林) has never been a smooth ride, with the two spending the last few years apart. However, the former beauty queen revealed that she and her daughter have slowly begun making amends.
Earlier this week, Elaine appeared in an interview on the Mount Buzz YouTube channel, where she discussed her career, personal life and health. The 1990 Miss Asia pageant winner also discussed her daughter Etta's current situation and opened up about their estranged relationship.
For those unaware, Etta is Elaine's daughter born out of wedlock. Her father, Jackie Chan (成龍), has never been an active figure in her life. Elaine raised Etta on her own, and the two had a close relationship until they had a falling out because of Etta's relationship with her then-girlfriend, Andi Autumn. She also claimed that her mother abused her growing up.
Despite previously moving to Canada, there were recent reports that Etta has returned to Hong Kong. While Elaine never confirmed this fact, she did mention that her relationship with her daughter has gotten better. The 53-year-old said she and Etta have exchanged greetings during the recent holidays, showing improvement in their relationship.

Elaine also briefly touched on the rumours that Jackie, through an intermediary, had provided financial assistance to Etta and supported her design career. The actress denied the claims, quipping, "I don't think so!" However, she also noted that she has no inside knowledge of the situation, adding, "I'm just a spectator, peeling peanuts on the sidelines."
While it appears that it might take some more time before Elaine and Etta fully reconcile, we're glad that the mother and daughter are at least on speaking terms. Regardless, we hope that the two can one day rebuild their relationship.
