RHB Unveils Sinar Credit Card-i With Lower Profit Rates And Zero Annual Fees Ahead Of October Launch

RHB Bank Berhad has announced the upcoming launch of the RHB Sinar Credit Card-i, a new Islamic credit card that focuses on affordability, simplicity, and everyday financial flexibility for Malaysians.

Scheduled to officially launch in October 2026, the new card is aimed at customers who prioritise practical financial solutions over premium travel perks or lifestyle rewards.

A Credit Card For Everyday Spending

Unlike many credit cards that bundle exclusive privileges and premium benefits, the RHB Sinar Credit Card-i strips things back to the essentials:

The card offers:

  • A 14% per annum retail transaction profit rate, which is lower than the industry norm that can reach up to 18%.
  • No annual fee.
  • No compounding finance charges.
  • A straightforward credit solution designed for daily expenses.

By focusing on core credit card features rather than luxury perks, RHB hopes to make responsible credit cards more accessible for customers looking for a practical payment option.

Why “Sinar”?

The card takes its name from the Bahasa Malaysia word “Sinar”, meaning light or ray. According to RHB, the name reflects its ambition to help customers navigate their financial journey with greater clarity and confidence.

The bank says the card is designed to support Malaysians in managing everyday expenses while working towards a healthier financial future.

More Choices For Different Financial Needs

According to RHB Group Managing Director and Group CEO Dato’ Rashid Mohamed, customers have different spending habits and financial priorities, meaning one type of credit card doesn’t fit everyone.

He explained that while some customers enjoy reward programmes and lifestyle privileges, many simply want an affordable credit card that helps them manage day to day expenses without unnecessary costs.

The RHB Sinar Credit Card-i expands the bank’s portfolio of both conventional and Islamic credit cards, giving customers another option based on their individual financial needs.

Existing RHB credit cardholders will not be affected and can continue using their current cards as usual.

Launching This October

While RHB has confirmed that the RHB Sinar Credit Card-i will officially launch in October 2026, additional details; including eligibility requirements and application information will be launched closer to the launch date.

For Malaysians searching for a no frills credit card, with lower financing cost and no annual fees, the RHB Sinar Credit Card-i could be a compelling new option to watch later this year.
