Malaysian singer Shila Amzah is no stranger to China, having made a name for herself there after appearing in several singing competitions. However, it looks like the star is planning to call the country her new home.
On Wednesday (16th July 2026), Shila met with members of the press at the press conference for her upcoming concert, “KITA: Shila Amzah 25 Tahun Bersama”. During the event, the singer opened up about her plans to move to China by the end of next year. According to the star, the move is to meet the growing demands of her career in the country, adding that the decision comes as she’s about to sign another long-term contract.

Shila also said that her family, which includes her husband, Ubai MZ, and children, Seth Uwais and Rhea Akira, will be tagging along on the move to make it easier for them to spend time together. The singer said, “Travelling back and forth can be exhausting. Whenever I need to be overseas for three or four days, I have to leave my children behind.” However, by moving to China with the entire family, the 36-year-old hopes to reduce the time spent apart.
In anticipation of the move, Shila said she and her husband have been working very hard to save up. She also touched on her children’s education, saying she’s open to enrolling them in Chinese school to help them be proficient in Mandarin. As for Ubai’s thoughts on the move, Shila said he’s excited, having once expressed interest in living overseas. She also said the move would be a great learning experience for the content creator.
In case you’re wondering, Shila previously lived in China for eight years after her landmark win on “Asian Wave”. However, the “Patah Seribu” singer said the upcoming move would provide more opportunities to learn about the music industry. She also denied speculation that she’s moving to China because she feels underappreciated in Malaysia, saying she’ll continue to remain active locally through new music and live performances.
Speaking of which, Shila’s “KITA: Shila Amzah 25 Tahun Bersama” concert will take place on 15th August 2026 (Saturday) at Arena of Stars, Resorts World Genting. The show will feature a setlist of 40 songs in Malay, English and Mandarin. There will also be several guest performers, including MimiFly and Hael Husaini. Moving to another country isn’t an easy decision, but it shows how dedicated Shila is to her craft. Thankfully, her family will be by her side this time around, so she’ll always have that pillar of support.
