Why Do Toddlers Sleep With Blankets Over Their Heads? Experts Weigh In

Toddlers have all kinds of funny, cute, and downright terrifying quirks, from having an intense obsession with lining up all their toys, to crying so hard they throw up. Do you ever check on your sleeping toddler only to find they’re covered head to toe in their comforter (like, literally head to toe)? When you pull back the blanket, you see they’re breathing fine, even if they’re a little sweaty. But why do toddlers sleep with blankets over their heads anyway? Can that even be comfortable? Why does it happen every night and nap time? And most importantly, is it safe?

The good news is, experts say you can probably put your parental worries to bed, right alongside your sleeping toddler. And, you can also just opt out of using a blankie if it stresses you out.

Why your toddler sleeps with a blanket over their head

Turns out, toddlers feel more comfortable when they can control their surroundings, says Dr. Natasha Burgert, a Kansas-based pediatrician and spokesperson for the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP). Making a blankie cocoon may just be another way of doing that. “Fundamentally, toddlers are self-centered creatures that crave control. Sleeping with items over their heads allows them to create their own comfort position when they sleep, creating that soothing sense of control,” she explains.

Is it safe for your toddler to sleep with a blanket over their head?

When asked whether or not parents should move the blanket out of the way if they notice that their toddler's face is covered, she wasn’t afraid to keep it real.

“Isn't that like trying to wake a sleeping bear? If they are comfortably resting, then I would not be concerned. A toddler has the ability to reflexively remove an obstruction from their face if it is threatening their breathing,” Burgert says.

But not everyone is comfortable with little ones’ airways potentially being blocked — parents or pros. Cynthia Dennis, RN, coordinator of Safe Kids Northeast Florida at Wolfson Children’s Hospital of Jacksonville, tells Romper in an interview that if questionable safety hazards can be avoided, why not avoid them?

“Footed PJs of an appropriate weight, so covers aren’t needed, would solve this problem," Dennis says. Burgert agrees that footed pajamas for 2- or 3-year-olds are practical because little ones tend to kick blankets off in their sleep anyway. If you happen to live in a temperate climate, you can maybe even skip the blanket altogether.

Safe sleep for toddlers

The AAP’s safe sleep guidelines — which include putting your little one in a bassinet, crib, or pack and play to sleep without any loose covers or pillows — only apply to babies up to 1 year old. So, when it comes to toddlers ages 1 and older, how can you keep them safe while they slumber?

Nemour’s Children’s Health pediatricians recommend children this age continue sleeping a secure crib until they begin trying to climb out. They add that it’s OK, after your baby turns 1 year old, to let them have a light blanket and small stuffed animal or lovey, but to avoid adding bigger items to their crib. They could turn that giant teddy bear into a step stool to swing a leg over their crib rail, and wind up falling out. If you’re concerned about them kicking off their blankets, or a light blanket not keeping them warm enough, they advise you dress them in thicker pajamas or a wearable blanket.

So, if your little one goes into full cocoon mode, you could just leave them that way. If that idea makes you feel on edge, perhaps it’s time to look into a sleep suit and some footie pajamas.

23 Prettiest Nail Designs For Valentine's Day

We all know that with Valentine’s Day comes chocolates, flowers, and professions of love, but it also comes with a very fun color palette and cute symbols to go with it. There are a lot of ways you can incorporate the classic hearts and shades of pink and red into daily life around the holiday, but one of the best is with some fun nail designs for Valentine’s Day. Between the Xs and Os, gorgeous hues, sparkles, and kiss prints, there is plenty to inspire some thematic nail art.

Of course, a basic shade of red or pink is a perfectly acceptable nail design for Valentine’s Day, but if you really want to lean into the holiday, it’s so much fun to add in little accents that celebrate love. Not a fan of red or pink? No problem, there are plenty of other colors that pair well with hearts. Aren’t fond of manicures that are overly cutesy? There are plenty of nail designs for Valentine’s Day that nod to the holiday without being overly obvious.

Even with all of the fun colors and symbols that come along with Valentine’s Day, it’s still not always easy to create your own unique nail art design. So, if you’re feeling a little stuck this year, here are some nail designs for Valentine’s Day to try for yourself.

Wintery shades

This classy nail design doesn’t scream “Valentine’s Day nails” the way a hot pink or classic red manicure might, but they still incorporate the most important holiday symbol: a heart. The combination of pale pink and burgundy actually keeps it looking sophisticated and might be a nail design you might be tempted to rock all winter long, when dark, moody colors are in.

A metallic runway

This is not your average pink manicure. At first glance, you might not notice the metallic silver line running down the length of these super glossy nails, but they’re there. And the stiletto shape help to make take a simple pink manicure to the next level.

Bejeweled digits

These jeweled nails are certainly dressed for a fancy Valentine’s Day outing. Start with any pink polish of your choosing — mix it up if you want to — add a coat of glitter, and tack on round and heart-shaped baubles.

Not your average manicure

If a french manicure is more your style, try this simple, pretty version. Instead of white, cover the tips in a super dense, sparkly silver glitter polish.

A pretty gradient

These lovely gradient nails actually would work for all kinds of occasions and with any color combination. For Valentine’s Day, pink and red shades feel appropriate, but you could totally venture into orange for Halloween or red and green for Christmas.

Minimalist mani

While some like to make statements with their nail polish, others prefer a more minimalist approach, and this Valentine’s Day nail art is perfect for them. To recreate it, you’ll need a soft base color, like this pearly white, and either red polish to make the hearts yourself or nail stickers.

Stamped design

Did you know that you can create a flawless nail design using stamps? In this Valentine’s Day manicure tutorial by Janelle, you’ll learn how to create several different holiday-appropriate nail designs using a Konad stamper. Who knew it could be so easy?

A wild print

If you’re someone who loves animal print, consider this fun Valentine’s Day nail design featuring zebra stripes. You won’t need a ton of special tools except for a fine tip brush and red, black, and white polishes. Check out this video by Nika Nails to learn how to do it yourself.

Dipped in glitter

Here’s a manicure that’s so glittery and so easy. In this tutorial, rather than use glitter nail polish, she uses a pink glittery nail dip/powder that leaves a textured finish. For the black hearts, you can either use a fine tip brush, a tool, or even a toothpick if you have a steady hand.

Heart punchout

How cool is this design? It looks like someone just swiped a brush across a heart on the nail, but the little cutout is actually added after the pink polish has dried. And, believe it or not, it’s pretty easy to do yourself with this tutorial.

Dots and hearts

Another easy Valentine’s Day manicure is just a red polka dot and heart pattern over a white or light pink base (but you can always switch up the colors). You don’t need to be a master artist to accomplish this, you just need a toothpick, a steady hand, and patience.

Candy heart pastels

If you want something a little different from classic red, get a little inspiration from the pastel colors of conversation hearts. With this design, you’ll really want to include the heart statement nails, since otherwise, it will just look like a pastel rainbow manicure. To learn how to do it, watch this tutorial from Jenny Claire Fox.

Statement nail sticker

By far the easiest way to upgrade your regular manicure into a Valentine’s Day mani is with the addition of a nail sticker. You can find stickers in most beauty stores (and on Amazon) and they come in different designs, textures, and sizes. Simply paint your nails a solid color, add a sticker to one nail, and you’re all set for the holiday.

Kisses

It’s not Valentine’s Day without some kissing lips, is it? Kelli Marissa has a tutorial with step-by-step instructions for recreating this exact manicure, but she uses a detail brush to get the look. You can certainly give this a try, or buy some nail stickers to make it easier.

A mashup

Red gets a lot of the attention on Valentine’s Day, but pink is a close runner-up. However, neon pink does not get the recognition it deserves. You can give the hue a little extra love with a holiday manicure like this one that combines the vibrant color with basic white and silver glitter polishes. The basic colors help tone down the pink, but still create a gorgeous holiday-appropriate design.

Subtle heart accent

If you like the idea of a Valentine’s Day nail design, but want something a little different, try something like this. This person included just a little bit of pink into their otherwise all-blue design, and the little heart is the perfect holiday touch.

Flowers

Want to skip the hearts altogether? Opt for a floral design instead. Flowers are definitely synonymous with Valentine’s Day, so nail art like this is totally appropriate. To make something this detailed, you’ll need some tools (here’s a tutorial), but you can use a toothpick to make a simple design, such as daisies.

A touch of gold

Not a hint of red in this Valentine’s Day nail art, but it’s still perfect. The addition of gold adds a little bit of glam to the design, and it’s an overall pretty easy manicure to recreate. You’ll need a toothpick or stickers to get the black dots and “love” just right, but the design would look just as good with out the black at all.

Watercolor ombre

For anyone who loves all of the colors of Valentine’s Day, but also prefers a uniform manicure, consider an ombre design like this one. To get the look, you’ll need a disposable makeup sponge and three of your favorite colors. Learn how to DIY with this tutorial.

Simple heart

Simple. Easy. Holiday appropriate. Seriously, it doesn’t get much easier than this design. Just paint your nails basic red, except for the middle finger with white. Once the middle finger is fully dry, use a toothpick to draw a heart on the middle finger with the same red polish you used on the other nails. To make it even easier, skip the toothpick art and pick up some nail stickers instead.

Waterfall hearts

This waterfall heart manicure is perfect for anyone who isn’t a fan of the cutesy Valentine’s Day designs. My Simple Little Pleasures has a step-by-step tutorial that will teach you how to recreate this gorgeous design at home.

Shades of magenta and fuchsia

For a more unique Valentine’s Day manicure, consider using different shades of magenta and fuchsia. The pink-purple colors are totally appropriate for the holiday, but they’re not used nearly as much as regular pink or red. A simple one-color design works great, but you can also mix it up with some sparkles like in this picture.

XOXO

Believe it or not, this XOXO nail art was done with just a toothpick. Kelli Marissa has a video tutorial that teaches you how to recreate it, as well as three other designs, using the household tool, and you’ll be amazed by how easy it is to recreate.

Now, with all of these nail designs for Valentine’s Day, you’re tasked with choosing which one you want to show off on the holiday. Of course, you can always use these as inspiration to create something of your own, or you can combine a couple of different designs to create a mix-and-match mani. Regardless of what you choose, your nails will surely look fabulous this Valentine’s Day.

Can You Have Sex With A UTI? Experts Explain

Because chatting about urinary tract infections (UTIs) isn’t exactly comfortable for everyone, you might not ask your doctor too many questions about the particulars of dealing with a bladder infection. Like, can you have sex with a UTI, assuming you’re feeling a little better and actually want to? Or would that cause additional health issues? Here’s what doctors have to say about getting busy while dealing one of these common health concerns.

Can you have sex with a UTI?

“A UTI shouldn’t prevent sexual activity, unless it causes pain,” Dr. Betty Acker, OB/GYN and medical provider with Nurx, tells Romper. Generally, it’s OK to have sex even if you’re treating one of these common conditions. “The vagina is not the urinary system and thus is not directly involved,” say Dr. Ditza Kats & Dr. Ross Lynn Tabisel at Women's Therapy Center. However, the doctors do advise patients to stop if sex causes any discomfort or pain because of the infection.

In addition, you definitely might not feel like getting sexual while dealing with a UTI, and that’s perfectly OK, too. “With the urethra being so intimately close to the vaginal opening, most will refrain from any sexual activity, penetrative and non-penetrative during such time,” according to Kats and Tabisel. “Taking the genitals on a vacation is a perfectly fine move!” Waiting until your medication or home remedies for UTIs take care of the infection before doing anything too serious is fine (and honestly understandable).

UTI causes and treatment options

“It’s not uncommon to get UTIs when you are having sex frequently or having sex with a new partner, which used to be called ‘honeymoon cystitis,’” says Acker. If you suspect this may be the cause, be sure to stay very hydrated before and after sex, and urinate as soon as you’re done, says Dr. Acker.

Although UTIs are a common complaint, doctors encourage you to take them seriously and seek treatment. That visit may be even easier than you imagined, too. “People should know that they should be able to access UTI treatment without going to the doctor to get a urine culture,” say Kats and Tabisel. “Unless there are complicating factors, like pregnancy or recurrent UTIs, a medical provider can diagnose based on your symptoms, even via telemedicine.” By taking care of these infections with help from a doctor, you can get back to having sex without any interruptions in no time.

110 One Syllable Boy Names That Are Simple Yet Special

One of the biggest decisions you’ll ever make regarding your baby is what you’ll name them. There is so much to mull over, such as your heritage, how the baby’s name might sound in English as well as your native tongue, and the significance the name holds for you and your partner. But what about syllables? That’s right, how long (or in this case, how short) your little sweetie’s name is should also be taken into consideration, too. So if you’re looking to keep it short and sweet, these one-syllable boy names might make their way onto your baby’s birth certificate.

There are a lot of benefits to going the one-syllable baby name route. If your baby’s middle name (you know, the one that you might use for a family name that you don’t love) is super long, having a short first name keeps the balance — and the peace. Plus, you have to think about the bazillions of times you’re going to say your little one’s name, whether it’s to tell him to not cut his baby sister’s hair (again), or do his homework, and you’ll soon realize that one-syllable guy names are the way to go.

So here are one syllable boy names that are adorable... but definitely aren’t a mouthful.

Gage

You won’t have to gauge how much you like the name Gage. Of French origin, Gage means “oath” and “pledge.” And if you’re into horror films, you’ll probably remember the name Gage, who was the toddler going through some serious Terrible Two’s (and more) in Pet Cemetery. It’s a short and unique one-syllable boy name.

Blake

Whether Shelton or Lively comes to mind, Blake is a beautiful boy’s name. The gender-neutral name is of British origin and means “black, pale, white.”

Grant

Did you give birth to a big ol’ baby boy? If your little guy isn’t so, um, little, Grant is a good choice for one syllable guy names. It means “tall, big,” and is of English and Gaelic origin.

Beau

If you’re already smitten with your little sweetie, Beau might be the name your baby was destined for. It means “beautiful, handsome” and is of French origin. It’s pronounced like “bow.”

Blaze

You probably weren’t expecting to deliver your baby in just a few pushes, right? For the baby boy who made birth a breeze, Blaze might be a fine fit. Of Latin origin, Blaze means “fire,” and while it’s still a boy’s name, it is starting to become gender-neutral.

Hugh

You just know that your newborn is the smartest one in the hospital nursery. So give him a name that’s fitting of his fine intellect with the name Hugh. It means “mind, intellect” and is of German, English, and Irish origin. Although Hugh isn’t extremely common, you can make it even more unique by spelling it Hew or Huw.

James

You can’t get more traditional than James. It’s a super popular one-syllable name and is a Hebraic name. It means “he who supplants” and ranks right up there as both a classic and modern name — for both boys and girls.

Chase

If you have an older child who’s a Paw Patrol fan, they might want you to name the new baby Chase. It’s a French name meaning “to hunt,” but it definitely takes on a cuter connotation when you think of those playfully precocious cartoon pups.

Mark

Your baby can make his mark on the world with the name Mark. Mark is a boy’s name of Latin origin, and means “warlike.” And if you’re looking for a religious name, Mark was a disciple of Jesus. But don’t think you have to be stuck with the K; the name can also be spelled as a more modern Marc, too.

Guy

You just love your little guy. So maybe you don’t have to look further for a baby boy’s name than, well, Guy. It’s of French origin and it means “guide, leader.” Although you could always pronounce it just like the word guy, if you opt for the French version, it’s pronounced like “gee” with a hard-sounding letter G.

Cash

Sure, he’s adorable, but your baby is going to be pretty costly in the future. That’s why a name like Cash could be a fun one syllable guy name for your baby boy. It derives from “caisse” which means “money case.” It’s been primarily an English surname, but could be a cute first one-syllable name for your little bundle of cash, er, joy.

Cruz

It’ll be cruise control all the way with the baby boy name Cruz. Originally a Spanish surname, Cruz has now become a popular first name for little dudes. It also means “cross” in Spanish.

Drake

For a badass little baby, there’s nothing better than Drake. Meaning “dragon” or “serpent,” Drake is of British origin. It’s not very common, which might be appealing if you want your little dude to be the only Drake in daycare.

Finn

Finn is a baby boy’s name that has become more popular in recent years. It’s an Irish form of Fionn, and was the name of an Irish warrior and hero. And, of course, you can’t think about Finn without thinking about Huckleberry, thanks to the Mark Twain novel of the same name.

Pierce

You could stare at your newborn baby boy all day. But when he opens his eyes and you’re mesmerized by his peepers, Pierce is a perfect name. It’s of English origin, and means “son of Piers,” which is yet another one-syllable boy’s name that you might fall in love with.

Reese

Although it’s becoming a more gender-neutral name, Reese originally started off as a boy’s name. It comes from the Welsh word for “enthusiasm” and is a variant of the name Rhys (also a one-syllable baby boy’s name).

Rhodes

Rhodes is a Greek one syllable boy’s name. It means “rose garden,” which is sweet in and of itself. But while roses smell lovely, nothing (and we mean nothing) can quite compare to your baby boy’s newborn smell.

Scott

Scott is a solid name for a baby boy. It is an Old English name and is actually an ode to Scotland, since Scott means someone who is from Scotland, or a Scotsman. Cue the kilt and bagpipes.

Wells

Expecting a spring baby? Well, then Wells would work well. (Ha.) It’s an Old English name, and it means, as you might have guessed, “spring.” It can be a nickname for Wellington, but Wells is becomingly increasingly popular as its own name.

Jude

Jude is a baby boy’s name that dates back to, well, forever. It originates from the Hebrew name Yhuda (Judah). It means “praised,” and is a Biblical name to boot. But even though it’s an older name, it’s definitely seeing a resurgence.

Zane

Meaning “God is gracious,” Zane is becoming more popular, thanks in great part to singer Zayn Malik from One Direction. You can switch up the spelling from Zane to Zayn (or even Zayne). It’s slowly becoming gender-neutral, but for now, mostly boys sport the name.

Kyle

The name Kyle has roots in both Scottish and Irish descent. It means “narrow” from the Gaelic “caol,” and is predominantly still a boy’s name, although it can be used as a girl’s name, too.

Paul

Originating from the Latin “Paulus” which means “small, humble,” Paul is a strong boy’s name. An apostle, Paul continues to be a popular first single-syllable name for boys.

Leif

Although it’s not a popular boy’s name, there’s no denying the cool factor of Leif. Of Scandinavian origin, it means “heir, loved,” so really, what better name could you give your baby boy? And if you’re wondering how to pronounce it, well, you’ve got options: It can be spoken as “life,” “layf,” or “leef.” How cool is that?

Joel

Joel is a baby boy’s name of Hebrew origin. It means “Jehovah is the Lord” and is a name deeply rooted in the Bible. While it can be pronounced like “joal,” it can also be spoken like the Hebrew name Yo’el, so like “Jo-el.”

Kurt

Of course, you want your little gent to have good manners. So start him off right by naming him Kurt, which literally means, “courteous, polite.” The name is of German origin, and while it was once popular (thanks to Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain), it’s not as common as before.

Cole

Much like its name connotes, Cole means, you know, coal. Specifically, it dates back to the Old English word col, meaning “charcoal.” While it can be a nickname for Nicholas, Cole stands on its own as a one-syllable baby boy’s name.

Seth

Meaning “set, appointed,” Seth was the third son of Adam and Eve. Seth became popular among the Puritans post-Protestant Reformation. And with so many celebrity Seths (think Seth Myers, Seth Rogan, and Seth MacFarlane), it’s no wonder that it’s become popular once again.

Trace

A gender-neutral name, Trace has typically been a boy’s name. It comes from the English word of the same meaning, and was common in the early aughts.

John

Solid, simple, and strong, John is a great one-syllable name for your baby boy. It’s a Biblical name and derives from the Hebrew meaning for “God is gracious.” Although it’s a great middle name, John now ranks within the Top 50 for baby boy first names.

Jack

Although Jack can be a nickname for the two-syllable Jackson, it has now found a spot among the one-syllable baby first name set. Of English origin, Jack can also be a nickname, ironically enough, for its single syllable counterparts like John and James.

Cade

When you give birth to a not-so-little butterball, Cade can be a good name. It means “round, barrel” and is of English origin. It’s another name that was popular in the early aughts, but is slowly coming back as a popular baby boy name.

Craig

Hailing straight from Scotland, Craig is a baby boy’s name that means “from the rocks.” And that makes sense, since the Scottish Highlands and Southern Uplands are pretty rocky. So if you have Scottish roots, Craig could be a one-syllable solution for your baby boy.

Hayes

Got a green thumb? If spending long days gardening sounds good to you, then Hayes is an ideal choice for your baby. It’s of Old English origin and means “hedged area,” which might be ideal for your little landscaper in the making.

Sean

Sean is an Irish version of John, and means “God is gracious.” It’s not as common as other Irish baby by names like Liam or even Flynn and Finn, but it still is quite popular. You can also have fun with the spelling, since it can be written as Sean, Shawn, or Shaun. No matter how you choose to spell it, though, it’s pronounced “shawn” and not, um, “seen.”

Dean

This simple, effortlessly cool one syllable guy’s name comes to us from several languages. It derives from Greek “dekanos,” which refers to a monk in charge of ten subordinates (it’s quite specific but does certainly lend the name an air of authority). It also independently developed from an old Anglo-Saxon word meaning “valley.” A third etymology is an Anglicanized version of the Hebrew word for “law” or “justice.”

Raj

Even people with passing familiarity with Indian languages and culture might know the meaning of this regal name. In various Sanskirt language families (Hindi, Urdu, Bengali and others), raj means “king,” though depending on the context it can also mean “rule,” “ruler,” emperor,” “royality,” or “power.” In any case, it may be a one syllable name, but it packs a wallop!

Wolf

Kylie Jenner may have ultimately decided against this name for her second born (though she did stick with a one syllable guy name), but we’re fans! It can be short for Wolfgang or just stand on its own as a pretty badass name for a little boy.

Heath

This is an Old English name with rustic roots. A heath is an area of open uncultivated land, especially in Britain, often covered in heather, gorse, and coarse grasses. The name means “someone who lives on the moor,” moor being another word for heath.

Kjell

The K-J combo might be confusing at first, but this Scandinavian name is a truly unqiue one syllable guy name. The “kj” sound doesn’t exactly translate perfectly into English but you can get close enough by pronouncing this “Shell.” It comes to us from Olr Norse and means “kettle” but also possible “helmet” or “cauldron.”

Naturally, naming your baby is a big deal. You want to give your child a name that they’ll hopefully love in the future, but you might not want to stumble over so many syllables, either. That’s when a one-syllable baby boy’s name can be short and sweet — just like your little guy.

Paul Rudd’s Kids “Don’t Care” That He’s ‘Ant-Man’ Because He's More Of A Dad

Paul Rudd has been playing Scott Lang, aka Ant-Man, for a full decade now, which is seriously impressive. Not enough to impress his kids, of course. At least not according to Rudd. That would be a stretch. But still, the rest of us are really amazed that he has been playing the role for 10 years now that he’s starring in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.

The actor hit the red carpet for the premiere of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania on Monday in Los Angeles with his wife Julie Yaeger. They did not bring their two children, 17-year-old son Jack and 13-year-old daughter Darby, along for the big event. Which was presumably just fine with them. When asked by People what his kids think about him playing Ant-Man, Rudd admitted, “I think I'm dad more than I'm Ant-Man or in the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe). Yeah. They don't care, nor should they.”

You would think his daughter Darby would at least be a little impressed by her dad’s Ant-Man portrayal, particularly since she is the inspiration behind Scott Lang’s relationship with Cassie in the movies. Speaking to The Wrap, Rudd shared a conversation he had with Darby where he explained, “You know, you’re the real Cassie,” adding “I do little things in the movie that are little things just for her.”

Fortunately Rudd didn’t exactly seem heartbroken by their lack of interest in his career. In fact, he seems to take great pride in keeping his life as a dad and life as an actor completely separate and certainly prioritizes the former. “When I think about myself, I think of myself as a husband and a father, like I'm that,” he told People in 2021 when he was named that year’s “Sexiest Man Alive” thank you very much. “I just hang out with my family when I'm not working. That's what I kind of like the most.”

No wonder his kids don’t really get too jazzed about their dad’s super famous role as a super big deal superhero. It sounds like he has made an effort to make sure they never need to feel impressed with his celebrity status. Or else they are simply teenagers. And we all know how teenagers.

Prince Louis Looks Like Young Kate Middleton In Never-Before-Seen Childhood Photo

There has been much discussion over the years on who 9-year-old Prince George most resembles, or who his 7-year-old sister Princess Charlotte takes after. From one angle Prince George looks like his own father Prince William, for instance, while from another he might look like his great-grandmother Queen Elizabeth as a child. The same holds true for Princess Charlotte. Sometimes she looks an awful lot like her late grandmother Princess Diana, other times she’s a carbon copy of Queen Elizabeth. But when it comes to their 4-year-old brother Prince Louis, he is simply his mom’s twin. And Kate Middleton just shared a throwback photo of herself as a baby as evidence.

Over the weekend, Middleton shared a photo of herself as a baby looking at her dad Michael Middleton to support her new early years campaign, Shaping Us. “This weekend, we’d love for you all to spend time with your friends, families, colleagues and communities talking about your early childhoods and how they’ve shaped your lives,” the Princess of Wales wrote on Instagram. “I hope you’ll also consider joining me in sharing a picture of yourselves before your fifth birthday to help with those conversations and to share some smiles and memories too.”

Naturally the comments were almost immediately focused on how much the Princess of Wales looked like her youngest child. “Is is just me or is there a very big resemblance between Cathrine and Louis?” wrote one social media user while another added, “Louis or Catherine?! Mummy’s twin.”

This is not the first time royal watchers pointed out how much Prince Louis looks like his mom. Two years ago Middleton shared a photo of herself as a toddler walking beside mom Carole Middleton and the resemblance was striking at that time as well. So much so that Middleton herself has reportedly taken notice. “Everyone always comments on how Louis is the spitting image of Kate,” a friend of Middleton’s told People in 2021. “She loves it and thinks it’s very sweet, she often jokes that he’s the only one of her kids who actually looks like her!”

Prince Louis is very much his mother’s baby boy and a classic third child, so it feels sort of poetic that he also looks so much like his mom. Add that to the fact that he’s clearly a hilarious kid to be around, and you’ve got a winning combination.
