Jason Kelce Praises Mom Donna & Wife Kylie In Tearful NFL Retirement Speech

— Tim Nwachukwu/Getty Images Sport/Getty Images

After weeks of speculation, Jason Kelce officially announced his plans to retire as center for the Philadelphia Eagles after 13 seasons. As the dad of three sat down for a press conference to talk about his storied career, he got emotional about the women in his life and how they helped to support him. When Kelce praised his mom Donna and wife Kylie through tears, it was a beautiful acknowledgment of all they had both done to help and encourage him in his career. And even more than that, his words confirmed that he sees and appreciates them both for the amazing women they are.

Kelce was first drafted in 2011 and has played with the Philadelphia Eagles for his entire career. He spoke emotionally about what his teammates have meant to him and everything his time with the NFL team has brought to him during his retirement speech. And one of the most amazing moments his time with the Eagles brought to him was meeting his future wife after a Christmas party in 2014.

“That night, I’d meet my future wife,” Kelce recalled through tears. “I still remember the moment she walked through the door.” He went on to describe meeting Kylie, calling her, “beautiful and smart, serious and playful.”

“It is no coincidence I have enjoyed the best years of my career with Kylie by my side,” he said, adding that she brought the best out in him, as well as “giving me three beautiful girls,” referencing 4-year-old daughter Wyatt, 3-year-old daughter Elliotte, and 1-year-old daughter Bennett. He thanks Kylie for giving him a “life that increasingly brings me more fulfillment off the field than it does on.”

As for Kelce’s mom Donna, who was at the press conference with the rest of the Kelce family including Jason’s brother Travis, he said, “I won’t forget my mother becoming mom of the NFL. A representative for all moms out there who have sacrificed so much for their children.”

Jason Kelce can often come across as a macho guy. A big guy, the guy who rips his shirt off at his brother’s football game when he drinks too much, the party guy. But he has proven to be another kind of man in his relationship with the women in his life. The man who sees them, who is grateful for them. The kind of man who cries in front of the entire world when he talks about his wife and his mom. And it’s beautiful.

First Over-The-Counter Birth Control Pill Expected To Hit Stores By March 2024

— Carol Yepes/Moment/Getty Images

For the first time in history, American women will be able to access over-the-counter birth control pills later this month. The Opill, which is a progestin-only birth control pill, will hit shelves later in March and it’s a significant moment in history, considering women have been forced to deal with doctors and clinics and other middle men to access birth control pills for decades.

Opill will be made available for $19.99 per month or $49.99 for a three month supply, according to CNN, and perhaps most significantly, anyone who wants to buy the first over-the-counter birth control pill from manufacturer Perrigo will be able to do so without a prescription. The Federal Drug Administration (FDA) approved Opill last July; Patrizia Cavazzoni, M.D., director of the FDA’s Center for Drug Evaluation and Research, said in a statement last year that this “approval marks the first time a nonprescription daily oral contraceptive will be an available option for millions of people in the United States.”

The over-the-counter birth control pills are currently being shipped to retailers across the country, and packs are expected to be made available for purchase by the end of the month.

Opill, which is sometimes also referred to as a “mini pill,” is used as a contraceptive as it “thickens cervical mucus and thins the lining of the uterus. These prevent sperm from reaching the egg and a fertilized egg from implanting in the womb,” according to the Mayo Clinic. “When used as directed, daily oral contraception is safe and is expected to be more effective than currently available non-prescription contraceptive methods in preventing unintended pregnancy,” Patrizia Cavazonni said at the time of Opill’s approval.

While people using a combination pill, which uses both estrogen and progestin, will stop ovulating, about half of the users who take a mini pill that only includes progestin will still ovulate. Opill needs to be taken at the same time every day to prevent pregnancy, and is effective 48 hours after you take it. Opill is a daily contraceptive rather than an emergency contraceptive like Perrigo’s other product known as Plan B, an oral pill that is taken 72 hours after unprotected sex to prevent pregnancy.

'Peppa Pig's New Wedding Special Stars Orlando Bloom & Katy Perry

— Hasbro

Peppa Pig might be a small child, but she is certainly not immune to the fun and allure of a wedding. Peppa Pig, starring everyone’s favorite sassy little pig, has a three-part wedding special coming out soon, and two big celebrities are going to be a part of the festivities.

Hasbro recently announced a new three-part wedding special, Peppa Pig Wedding Week, that will kick off on Nickelodeon at 9 a.m. ET/PT on March 25 and run through March 28 in celebration of Peppa Pig’s 20th anniversary, if you can believe it.

The three-part series will feature young Peppa and her family helping her teacher prepare Mr. Bull for his upcoming wedding to Mrs. Cow. Whether or not they plan to do a Cow-Bull hyphenate or keep their own names is not clear, but we do know this much at least. Orlando Bloom and Katy Perry are lending their voices to the wedding special, as jeweler Mr. Raccoon and dressmaker Ms. Leopard respectively.

“Peppa is so relatable and warm, and her stories teach lessons of good values and integrity that I am modeling for my daughter,” Perry said in a statement shared with Romper. “It feels like a warm cup of tea all the time! How could I say no? Peppa is an icon, and I thought I should give my KatyCats the collab they’ve been asking for! …Plus whatever makes me cool with my toddler is what I’m into these days!”

The couple are both featured in the trailer for the new three-part special, where all of our favorite Peppa Pig characters are on high alert to make sure the wedding comes together without a hitch.

We know at least one little girl who will be watching the three-part Peppa Pig wedding special. Bloom and Perry’s 3-year-old daughter Daisy. In fact, she could well have been the driving force behind Bloom’s decision to voice a character on the series. “The fact that I get to be Mr. Raccoon and I can run around the kitchen pretending to be Mr. Raccoon when she’s watching it, she will just be so delighted,” Bloom said in a statement.

You can watch the new Peppa Pig wedding special like little Daisy Bloom on Nickelodeon or stream it with a Netflix, Apple TV, or Prime Video subscription.

Taylor Swift Is Related To Emily Dickinson & It Just Makes Sense

— ROBYN BECK/Getty Images/Bettmann/Getty Images

Taylor Swift has really been leaning into the poetic side of her music lately. So much so that she even named her forthcoming album The Tortured Poets Department, in fact. Could there be a nod to one of Swift’s incredibly famous literary ancestors in this new title? Because it turns out, the singer is distantly related to one of the original tortured poets, and as soon as we found out it just all made so much sense to us.

Ancestry revealed on Monday that Swift is distantly related to none other than beloved poet Emily Dickinson, according to a report from TODAY. “Swift and Dickinson both descend from a 17th century English immigrant (Swift’s 9th great-grandfather and Dickinson’s 6th great-grandfather who was an early settler of Windsor, Connecticut),” Ancestry shared with TODAY. “Taylor Swift’s ancestors remained in Connecticut for six generations until her part of the family eventually settled in northwestern Pennsylvania, where they married into the Swift family line.”

Emily Dickinson is widely considered to be one of the most important poets of her time and challenged both cultural and literary norms with her work. She was considered an eccentric in her brief lifetime (she died at 26 years old), living at her home in Amherst, Massachusetts, never married, and was known to be a stout-hearted friend who encouraged others to follow their passions.

In so many ways, two peas in a pod.

It’s perfectly possible that Swift already knew, or even sensed, that she might be distantly related to Emily Dickinson. She did, after all, reference that late poet in the 2022 Nashville Songwriters Association International while accepting her songwriter-artist of the decade award. “If my lyrics sound like a letter written by Emily Dickinson’s great-grandmother while sewing a lace curtain, that’s me writing in the Quill genre,” she said at the time. And of course, Swifties have long speculated that her Evermore album was inspired by Dickinson as well, leaning on clues like the fact that the album was released on Dickinson’s birthday, Dec. 10, 2020, and the album title could well be in reference to the last line of the poem One Sister have I in Our House, which reads, “From out the wide night’s numbers — Sue forevermore!”

Swift’s forthcoming album, The Tortured Poets Department, is set to be released on April 19, and we can only hope that there is a nod or two to her famous ancestor on that album.

Vanderpump Rules' Kids & Babies: Meet The Cast's Families

— Bravo/NBCUniversal/Getty Images

Even if you haven’t watched every season of Vanderpump Rules, you’ve probably heard all of the recent gossip following the cast. Since the reality show premiered on Bravo in 2013, there’s been a lifetime’s worth of drama, engagements and break-ups, and — especially most recently — cheating scandals. But despite all the turbulence, there have been some happy and successful relationships come from the show, and six (soon to be seven!) adorable babies!

Over the past few years, Stassi Schroeder and Beau Clark, Kristina Kelly and Max Ville, Scheana Shay and Brock Davies, Brittany Cartwright and Jax Taylor, as well as LaLa Kent and Randall Emmett have all welcomed babies. All of these couples are still together, some married, except for Kent and Emmett who split in 2021 after being engaged for about three years.

Schroeder and Clark welcomed their second child in September 2023, and Kent just revealed in March 2024 that she’s pregnant with her second child.

Assuming you’ve exhausted yourself over #Scandavol, let’s take a look at all the cast members’ babies and families as you dive into Season 11.

LaLa Kent

LaLa Kent joined the show on Season 4 and is currently still on the series. She was engaged to producer Randall Emmett from 2018 to October 2021. The couple had a complicated and messy split, especially since the break-up came shortly after they gave birth to their first child, Ocean, in March 2021. Emmett was on the show for Seasons 8 and 9, but is no longer a cast member because of the split.

In March 2024, Kent announced that she’s pregnant with her second child. “I’m expanding my pod,” the reality star captioned a black and white photo of her bump with Ocean looking up at her.

Scheana Shay and Brock Davies

Scheana Shay is one of the OG cast members of the show and has been married to Brock Davies, who is also a cast member of Vanderpump Rules, since 2022. Their first child, a daughter named Summer Moon Honey Davies, was born in April 2021.

Stassi Schroeder and Beau Clark

Stassi Schroeder is married to Beau Clark, who both are former cast members of the reality series. The two wedded in September 2020 and welcomed their first child in January 2021. Hartford Charlie Rose is now 2 years old and cuter than ever. Schroeder is gave birth to her second child in September 2023, a son named Messer Rhys.

Kristina Kelly and Max Ville

Kristina Kelly was on Seasons 2 through 7 of the series. She and boyfriend Max Ville have been together 13 years and welcomed their first child in March of this year. The two live in California with their son, River.

Brittany Cartwright and Jax Taylor

Brittany Cartwright and Jax Taylor were both cast members of Vanderpump Rules and left the show in 2020 after allegedly both being fired due to problematic tweets on Taylor’s account. Taylor was on the show since the beginning and Cartwright made her first appearance on Season 4. The couple got married in June 2019 and their son, Cruz, was born in April 2021. The whole family, including little Cruz, will star in Bravo’s new reality series, The Valley.

Even throughout all of the drama and turbulence that the cast endures throughout Vanderpump Rules, they have started the cutest little families.

What Age Is 'Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse' Appropriate For?

— Sony Pictures Entertainment

OMG, what’s that we see swinging our way? Why it’s our friendly neighborhood Spider-Man... and another... and another... and there’s a Spider-Woman... and... another, pregnant Spider-Woman? How many Spideys are there exactly? In the latest Spider-Film (see what we did there?), which is currently streaming on Netflix, we get to find out. But can we watch this Academy Award-nominated movie with our kids? What age is Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse appropriate for? Here’s what parents need to know.

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is rated PG.

It earned the rating for “frenetic sequences of animated action violence, some language and thematic elements,” which is pretty much exactly what was said about the first movie. In other words, if you saw the first film, expect more of the same.

Common Sense Media suggests both Into and Across the Spider-Verse are appropriate for viewers 9 and older though, personally speaking, I watched the first one with an 8 and 5-year-old and I would have been fine letting them watch this one at those ages as well. Honestly, I think the bigger issue watching this with kids it that it’s long — almost two hours — and might be a little cerebral for littler kids. That said, the action and comedy will likely be a big hit with kids of all ages: it truly is a family movie, not one you just tolerate because your kids want to watch it.

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse takes place in the same cinematic universe as Into The Spider-Verse.

This is, notably not a movie within the Marvel Cinematic Universe (also known as the MCU) where all superhero movies are interrelated. So you don’t have to watch every Marvel movie from the past 15 years to know what’s going on. That said, it’s helpful to watch the 2018 predecessor, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse because a lot of the characters from are back in this newest installment. (You can figure out who’s who based on context, but you’ll definitely get more out of it if you know who, say, Uncle Aaron is.)

Fortunately for you, the first movie is great, and that’s not just my opinion: it actually won an Oscar for Best Animated Feature at the 91st Annual Academy Awards among many, many, many others.

The main protagonist is Miles Morales, a Brooklyn teen who takes up the mantle of Spider-Man after the death of Peter Parker... but soon discovers his is just one of infinite universes, and just about all of them have their own version of Spider-Man, including another, more cynical Peter Parker, who becomes his mentor.

The cast is full of names parents will know.

Returning to the franchise are Shameik Moore as Miles Morales (aka Spider-Man), Hailee Steinfeld as Gwen Stacy (aka Spider-Woman), and Jake Johnson as Peter Parker (also Spider-Man). They are joined by a cadre of fellow Spider-Folks — including Issa Rae as Jessica Drew; Daniel Kaluuya as Hobie Brown; Oscar Isaac as Miguel O’Hara; and Andy Samberg as Ben Reilly — as well as Jason Schwartzman as the Spot and others.

Yes, of course they do the Spider-Man pointing meme.

One of the internet’s most beloved memes is “Spider-Man Pointing at Spider-Man.” The image, according to the website Know Your Meme is from a 1967 Spider-Man comic but entered memedom sometime in the early 2010s. It’s been used to poke fun at any number of situations, generally stemming from circular logic, hypocrisy, confusion, or just funny situations (one of my personal favorites has one Spider-Man labeled “Cats & Dogs” and the other “A Mirror”). And in a movie with seemingly infinite Spider-Mans, you bet they riffed on it...

The tl;dr...

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is, broadly speaking, family friendly with a PG rating. But if your kid is particularly excitable, or, perhaps, the kind of kid who will immediately try swinging from buildings after seeing their favorite superhero do so, you might want to learn more or at least talk to your kid about what they can expect to see ahead of time.

Mark Ruffalo's Wife & Kids: The Actor Is A Dad Of 3 Who's Been Married For Decades

— Dan Doperalski/Golden Globes 2024/Getty Images Entertainment/Getty Images

It probably won’t exactly come as a shock to you that Mark Ruffalo is a dedicated dad and loving husband. The actor and activist basically exudes that good dad energy. What might surprise you about the Oscar nominee, however, is that he is a dad of three and has been married for decades. He’s an old hand at this family thing, and getting better at it all the time. Here’s what else you need to know about his family.

Mark Ruffalo met his wife, Sunrise Coigney, by chance in 1998.

Ruffalo was a struggling actor just walking around the streets of Los Angeles with a friend when he met the woman who would become his wife. Fellow actor Sunrise Coigney, who was so charming she had both men smitten on sight. “I don’t think he wanted us to meet,” he remembered in an interview with Men’s Journal in May 2013. “But I saw her and was like, ‘I’m going to marry that girl.’” And so he did.

When the couple first met and fell in love, they were both at the beginning of their acting journey. She starred in 100 Centre Street, Campfire Stories, and even co-starred with her husband in the 2003 movie In The Cut. She has since moved on to open a retail store in upstate New York called Sunny’s Pop, where you can buy shop pieces chosen with her own particular style in mind.

The couple married in 2000.

After two years of dating, Ruffalo and Coigney married in June 2000, and it sounds as though they’re as happy now as they were then. “Happy 23 years, my friend, my partner, my lover,” Ruffalo wrote on Instagram for their anniversary in 2023. “Everything beautiful in our lives comes from you. You also happen to keep this whole shambling enterprise on the rails. I admire you and love you.”

Their son Keen is 22 years old.

Coigney and Ruffalo welcomed their first child together, son Keen Ruffalo, in June 2001 just a year after they were married. Keen’s birth came not long after Ruffalo was diagnosed with a brain tumor, a terrifying time for the actor that left him worried about his family. “When these things happen, you sort of remember your religion a little bit,” Ruffalo told the Acoustic Neuroma Association in 2013. “I was praying and bargaining with God … I said, ‘Please, don’t take my face and don’t take my life because without my face I can’t really support my family, and [without] my life, I definitely can’t support my family.’”

Keen is an actor like his dad.

Young Keen Ruffalo has already acted with his dad, making a cameo in 2013’s Begin Again and also in Thor: Ragnarok. He’s also joined his parents and siblings on the red carpet several times over the years, and while he tends to keep a low profile on social media, we wouldn’t be surprised to see him follow in his dad’s thespian footsteps down the line.

Their daughter Bella is 18 years old.

Ruffalo welcomed daughter Bella with Coigney in April 2005 and has also joined them on the red carpet for movies like The Adam Project and the Disney+ series She-Hulk: Attorney-At-Law. Bella Ruffalo also keeps a low profile online and has set her Instagram to private, but her parents don’t mind enthusing about their love for their daughter. “Happy 18th birthday @belladogood,” Ruffalo wrote in honor of her birthday. “You live your life like a comet across the sky—burning bright and beautiful. Keep going kid. So proud of you and who you are as you begin your adulthood. Xoxo.”

Their daughter Odette is 16 years old.

Ruffalo welcomed his youngest child, daughter Odette, in 2007 with wife Coigney. Along with her older siblings, Odette once shot a scene for Thor: Ragnarok, although they all felt like one day was more than enough. “They were like, ‘The camera was on us. It was on us.’ They had a great day. They were there all day, which is exactly the experience I want them to have,” Ruffalo told Entertainment Tonight at the time. While she might not have wanted to return to filming. Ruffalo did admit that she was especially proud to have a dad who was a superhero, telling her friends at school, “My dad’s the Hulk.”
