Veteran HK Star Stanley Fung Passed Away A Few Days After Mourning Longtime Friend Benz Hui

Just days after the Hong Kong entertainment scene bid farewell to one icon, the public had to say goodbye to another. Shortly after the death of his friend Benz Hui (許紹雄), veteran actor Stanley Fung (冯淬帆) passed away on 31st October 2025 (Friday). He was 81.

News of Stanley's death was first shared by Taiwanese legislator Cai Shu Jun via social media in the early hours of 1st November 2025 (Saturday). His family and friends would later confirm the news. Actor Eric Tsang wrote, "Last night, I received the tragic news that my friend, Brother Fung, had passed away. I am deeply saddened and heartbroken." The news prompted an outpour of tributes from fans and netizens.

Stanley's cause of death is still unknown, but he previously revealed his health issues, including insufficient blood oxygen levels. Back in May, the actor shared a photo of himself in the hospital, using an oxygen concentrator. Stanley revealed that he had been hospitalised for two months due to health problems. While the post sparked concern, the veteran star faced his illness with a calm attitude, writing, "After all, I'm getting old. There's nothing I can do but accept it."

Just days before his death, Stanley shared a post on social media, mourning the passing of his longtime friend, Benz Hui. Benz died on 28th October 2025 (Tuesday) after succumbing to cancer. In his post, Stanley seemingly hinted at his fate, writing, "I'm older than you (Benz) and I'm very sick myself, barely clinging on to life. Amitabha, wait for me over there, my dear brother. I will follow soon."

Stanley is a prominent figure in Hong Kong cinema, starring in many 1980s and 1990s hits, including "My Lucky Stars", "Lucky Stars Go Places" and "The Romancing Star". He's best known for his deadpan delivery, impeccable timing, and his comedic catchphrases, which have become part of Hong Kong pop culture. In recent years, he has lived a semi-retired life in Taiwan, but still occasionally appeared in films and television series.

We extend our condolences to Stanley's family and loved ones. May they find solace during this difficult time.

Namewee Denies Alleged Drug Use & Involvement In Taiwanese Influencer Iris Hsieh’s Death

Last week, fans of Taiwanese influencer Iris Hsieh (谢侑芯) were shocked to learn that the social media personality had passed away at age 31 while on a trip in Malaysia. As more details about her death emerged, Malaysian singer Namewee (黄明志) became the subject of scrutiny.

According to reports, Iris was found dead at a hotel in Kuala Lumpur on 22nd October 2025 (Wednesday). However, her death was belatedly revealed to the public on 30th October 2025 (Thursday). The 31-year-old former nurse was found unconscious in the hotel room bathtub. Her manager, Chris, confirmed the cause of death was a heart attack, adding that it struck so quickly that there was "no chance for emergency treatment".

Shockingly, local authorities would reveal that Namewee was at the scene when Iris was unconscious. He and Iris were reportedly working together on a video and discussed work matters in the hotel room. The controversial figure was also found with nine blue pills on him, which the police suspected to be drugs, prompting immediate arrest. Namewee was charged in court on 24th October 2025 (Friday), but pleaded not guilty to the charges. He has been released on bail.

Following the new reports, Namewee shared a post on social media, refuting his involvement in Iris's death and the claims of drug use. In the post dated 2nd November 2025 (Sunday), the media personality wrote, "I have never used or carried any drugs. At most, I've been drinking a lot lately. Believe it or not, the truth will come out when the police report is released, which should take another two or three months."

SOURCE: FACEBOOK (Namewee 黃明志)

Namewee also explained that the reason he didn't respond to the allegations before was that the case was still under investigation and he couldn't disclose details. He also said he has been subjected to blackmail in the past few days, likely due to his alleged involvement. The 42-year-old also expressed sadness over Iris's death, additionally lamenting that the ambulance came an hour late.

Despite Namewee's denial, the public continued to express doubt in his claims. Iris's manager also slammed the Malaysian star, arguing that his statement is inconsistent with the official police reports. As of now, the case is still under investigation, but what are your thoughts on this?

“Rangga & Cinta: The Musical Film” Brings A Classic Love Story Back To Life

Remember when Rangga left Cinta at the airport and broke all our teenage hearts? Well, he's back and this time, he's singing about it.

"Rangga & Cinta," directed by Riri Riza, takes one of Southeast Asia's most beloved love stories, "Ada Apa Dengan Cinta?" (AADC) and gives it a brand new rhythm. Think poetry, heartbreak, and nostalgia, all set to music that'll make you want to sing along.

A Love Story That Refuses to Fade

If you grew up in the early 2000s, "Ada Apa Dengan Cinta?" was the love story. It gave us Rangga's brooding poetry, Cinta's fierce confidence, and that unforgettable airport goodbye scene that haunted us for years. And of course, there was Melly Goeslaw's soundtrack—songs that somehow knew exactly what heartbreak felt like before we did.

Now, more than two decades later, that same universe returns through "Rangga & Cinta: The Musical Film," offering a new way to relive those feelings—this time through songs, choreography, and cinematic emotions.

A Musical Rebirth for a New Generation

Instead of replaying the same story, "Rangga & Cinta" breathes new life into the AADC legacy with El Putra Sarira as Rangga and Leya Princy as Cinta—two rising stars stepping into the iconic roles once played by Nicholas Saputra and Dian Sastrowardoyo. But this isn't just a remake—it's a reinterpretation that brings the classic tale into a new era.

The new Rangga still carries that mysterious, poetic charm, while Cinta's wit and warmth are reimagined through a Gen Z lens. It feels familiar yet fresh, like meeting your first love again after years apart and realizing they've grown up, too.

When Melly Goeslaw's Music Strikes Again

Of course, it wouldn't be AADC without Melly Goeslaw and Anto Hoed. The duo behind iconic songs like "Ada Apa Dengan Cinta" and "Bimbang" return to compose the film's soundtrack, proving that their touch on love and melody is timeless.

Their new compositions blend nostalgia with a modern sound, echoing the same bittersweet feeling of the original—but for a new audience who grew up expressing love through playlists instead of poetry books.

Riri Riza's Love Letter to Creativity

Director Riri Riza calls "Rangga & Cinta" a celebration of courage and creativity.

"I'm grateful to be able to explore the musical genre again, especially with the original songs that so many people love," Riri shared. "I hope audiences will feel the same joy and warmth I felt while making this film."

Having premiered at the Busan International Film Festival 2025, the film has already received glowing feedback, hinting at the emotional ride it promises to deliver when it hits Malaysian cinemas.

"Rangga & Cinta" hits cinemas nationwide on 6th November 2025, distributed by Primeworks Studios. For updates and exclusive content, follow Primeworks Studios on Facebook, Instagram, X, and YouTube.
