At the hospital, he was diagnosed with a brain haemorrhage and fell into a coma. However, Yau Piu never regained his consciousness and passed away on 23rd February 2026 (Monday) at around 10pm. He leaves behind a wife and a daughter. His family has yet to share details about his funeral.

Yau Piu began working in the entertainment industry at age 15, initially as an extra. He joined TVB in 1989 through the station's third Artist Training Class, subsequently appearing in various dramas. However, he mostly played villainous roles, earning him the nickname of "TVB's Go-to Villain".

After leaving TVB and a brief stint at Hong Kong Television Network, Yau Piu moved into the business sector. He founded an environmental engineering company that specialises in formaldehyde removal, indoor anti-bacterial treatment services and hygiene-related products distribution. His business found success, especially after the COVID-19 pandemic.

We extend our condolences to Yau Piu's family and loved ones. May they find strength during this difficult time, and may the actor rest in peace.
