Nostalgia is officially back. This month, Disney Channel's hit show "Hannah Montana" turns 20 years of age, marking two decades since a young Miley Cyrus first graced our screens as the student-slash-pop star who was living "the best of both worlds". Recently, Disney+ has dropped the first trailer for its upcoming "Hannah Montana 20th Anniversary Special", set to premiere on 24th March 2026.
In the sneak peek, the special reveals Cyrus stepping back into the role that made her a global superstar. She wears the iconic blonde wig, a Hannah Montana-style outfit and visits sets re-created from the original show, saying, "I'm already getting emotional." Alex Cooper, host of the popular podcast "Call Her Daddy", tells Cyrus, "This show defined a generation."
Cyrus, dressed as Montana, can also be seen dancing with her dad, Billy Ray Cyrus – who played her father, Robby Ray Stewart, in the show – and looking at photo albums alongside her mother, Tish Cyrus.
The special will be filmed in front of a live studio audience and will feature an exclusive, in-depth conversation with the iconic Miley Cyrus herself. She will revisit the moments, music, and memories that defined an era. Expect never-before-seen archival footage, plus the resurrection of some of the show's most iconic sets, from the Stewart family living room, and, of course, the revered, rotating closet.
