Fans are rallying support for rapper Megan Thee Stallion after she announced her breakup with basketball player Klay Thompson. Some even took to her recent Broadway performance to show their love.
In case you haven’t heard, Megan Thee Stallion recently confirmed that she and boyfriend Klay Thompson have broken up after a year of dating. The news came after the rapper shared an Instagram Stories post, accusing the athlete of cheating on her. Megan wrote in the post, “Cheating, had me around your whole family playing house … got ‘cold feet’”. While she never mentioned Klay directly, many fans understood that the post was referring to him.
Megan would later share a statement about the breakup, writing, “I’ve made the decision to end my relationship with Klay. Trust, fidelity and respect are non-negotiable for me in a relationship, and when those values are compromised, there’s no real path forward. I’m taking this time to prioritise myself and move ahead with peace and clarity.” Meanwhile, Klay has yet to address the breakup or the cheating accusations.
Nevertheless, the online community has been showing love for Megan amid her breakup. Fans and other media personalities alike expressed support for the rapper, at the same time criticising Klay for his alleged infidelity. Many also cheered on the 31-year-old during her first public appearance just hours after the breakup, where she performed as Zidler on the ongoing Broadway production of “Moulin Rouge!”.
Audience members noted that Megan performed smoothly for the night, but shared that the rapper started tearing up during the curtain call, likely overwhelmed by the recent happenings. The crowd would then give the Grammy winner a standing ovation, shouting “We love you”s towards the star. In a video taken of the moment, Megan was wiping away her tears before closing out the show with her fellow cast members.

The scene prompted even more support from the public, including WNBA star Angel Reese, who wrote on Twitter, “It’s the way you show up even while carrying so much — that’s what makes you THAT girl. You always have a little sister riding for you at dawn. I love you, sister.” Rapper Monaleo shared a similar sentiment, also writing on Twitter, “Just a girl carrying the weight of the world. We love you Meg even on your darkest of days, don’t you ever forget it!”
It’s clear to see that Megan’s fans and peers love her and wish her nothing but the best. While she may be heartbroken at the moment, we hope she’ll bounce back from the split soon.
