Actress Kaylee Hottle Passed Away At 18 Following Fatal Car Crash

Hollywood has lost a bright young star. Kaylee Hottle, best known for her role in “Godzilla vs Kong” and its sequel, has passed away as the result of a tragic car crash. She was only 18 years old.

Kaylee’s father, Joshua, confirmed the devastating news, revealing that his daughter was killed in a car crash in Frederick, Maryland. The accident occurred on Tuesday (21st July 2026). According to reports, the actress was in a 1995 Honda Accord with another passenger and a 19-year-old driver. The car veered off a two-lane highway and struck a culvert.

Kaylee was taken to a hospital where she was later pronounced dead. The driver sustained non-life-threatening injuries, while the other passenger declined medical treatment. The Frederick County Sheriff’s Office said that excessive speed is believed to be the contributing factor to the collision.

Kaylee got her start in acting through an advertisement for the American Sign Language (ASL) translation app, Convo. The deaf actress then made her feature film debut in “Godzilla vs Kong”. She starred as Jia, the orphan who forms a bond with King Kong through sign language. The late star reprised the role in the 2024 sequel, “Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire”.

Besides the two films, Kaylee also acted in an episode of “Magnum P.I (2021)”. While her filmography was limited, Kaylee was widely recognised for her talent. In 2024, she received a nomination at the 52nd Saturn Awards for the Saturn Award for Best Performance by a Younger Actor for her role in “Godzilla x Kong”.

Former co-stars and fans have since paid tribute to the late actress through social media. Rebecca Hall, who played Jia’s adoptive mother in both Godzilla movies, wrote on Instagram, “Devastated to hear this news. My heart goes out to your family. You will be missed, Kaylee.” Millie Bobby Brown also paid tribute with an Instagram Story post.

Kaylee’s school, the Texas School for the Deaf, also paid tribute to the late actress. In its statement posted on its social media, the school extended their condolences to her family and loved ones. The statement also asked the public to respect the family’s privacy during this difficult time and not to speculate about her death.

We extend our condolences to Kaylee’s family and loved ones. May they find solace during this difficult time, and may she rest in peace.
