The Hong Kong entertainment industry has lost another icon. Patrick Tse Yin (谢贤), affectionately known as Sei Gor (Fourth Brother/四哥), has passed away, just weeks before his 90th birthday.
His children, actor-singer Nicholas Tse (谢霆锋) and actress Jennifer Tse (谢婷婷), shared the devastating news on 20th July 2026 (Monday). In his Instagram post, Nicholas paid tribute to his late father, remembering his enduring professionalism and dedication to his work. Meanwhile, his sister Jennifer thanked the public for their support and condolences, asking for privacy for the family as they mourn Patrick.
According to reports, Patrick passed away on 16th July 2026 (Thursday). He was previously hospitalised for pneumonia and succumbed to the illness. Nicholas, who was in China for work, flew back to Hong Kong to be with his father in his last moments and help with the funeral arrangements. Jennifer, who is currently based in Canada, also returned to Hong Kong to be with her family during this difficult time.
In accordance with Patrick’s wishes, his family opted for a low-key farewell ceremony. The late actor was cremated on Monday morning at the Wo Hop Shek Crematorium in Fanling, under his birth name, Tse Ka-yuk (谢家钰). Only close family members were present at the crematorium, including Nicholas and Jennifer. Patrick’s ex-wife, Deborah Lee (狄波拉), was also present to pay her final respects.
It’s worth noting that Patrick’s health had been deteriorating in recent years. The late actor experienced declining mobility in his later years, requiring him to use a wheelchair. There were also rumours that he had suffered a stroke. Due to his declining health, he had also largely stepped down from public appearances. His most recent sighting was in April, where he appeared noticeably thinner.
Following news of his death, fans and fellow celebrities have taken to social media to pay tribute to the late star, remembering him for his efforts in shaping Hong Kong’s entertainment scene. Some fan groups are also organising online and in-person events to honour his legacy. Many also extended condolences to Patrick’s family, sending them love and support as they mourn their loss.
Patrick’s death also brought up questions about his estate. News outlets have reported that the late screen icon completed his will before his passing. His estate has an estimated value of over HK$100 million (approximately RM52.15 million) and includes real estate, investments and copyrights. Patrick reportedly arranged for his grandsons, Lucas and Quintus, to inherit 90% of his estate. Meanwhile, his children will receive the remaining 10%.
