The Pokémon Company, headquartered in Minato-ku, Tokyo and led by CEO Tsunekazu Ishihara, celebrated Pokémon’s 30th anniversary with PokéXciting!, a two-day fan event held at KLCC Park on 12th and 13th September 2026. Bringing together fans of all ages, the event transformed the iconic KLCC Park into a Pokémon-filled wonderland, complete with themed decorations, interactive experiences and plenty of opportunities to get up close with some of the franchise’s most beloved characters.
Among the activities were Pokégenic, Pokémon Meet & Greet and Pokémon Kids TV, alongside life-sized Pokémon statues and colourful balloon installations scattered throughout the venue. Fans also had the chance to experience Pokémon in a different way through Pokémon GO, where they could catch the PokéXciting! Pikachu, featuring a local Location Background and take part in a region-exclusive GO Stamp Rally. The stamp rally will remain available at KLCC Park for one month following the event.
One of the biggest highlights was the Pikachu Parade and PokéXciting! Parade, which marked the first appearance of the PokéXciting! Pikachu in Malaysia. Dressed in a vibrant turquoise costume, the special Pikachu brought a lively party atmosphere to Kuala Lumpur as it joined Bulbasaur, Charmander, Squirtle, Eevee and Pikachu in an energetic parade around the park.
The celebrations continued into the evening with the PokéXciting! Special Night Show, before culminating in Kuala Lumpur’s first-ever Pokémon Drone Show. Lighting up the city skyline, the spectacular aerial display brought a fitting finale to the two-day celebration.
The Pokémon fun, however, does not end with the event. Starting 1st October 2026, Ombak KLCC will kick off a mall-wide Pokémon campaign, transforming the shopping destination with Pokémon-themed decorations and activities across four rotating themes: Pikachu, Fire-type Pokémon, Grass-type Pokémon and Water-type Pokémon. Visitors can also take part in a range of Pokémon-themed activities and rewards, including gift redemptions as well as colouring and crafting activities at the Concourse.
For fans who want a more hands-on experience, Ombak KLCC will also host trial play sessions on the Nintendo Switch 2, featuring the latest titles including Pokémon Pokopia and Pokémon Champions. Meanwhile, the Pokémon TCG New Trainer Journey will give newcomers an opportunity to learn how to play the Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG). Participants can also receive rewards such as Demo Decks and Reward Vouchers, which can be redeemed for original-design TCG accessories.
With its mix of immersive experiences, character appearances, games and interactive activities, PokéXciting! brought Pokémon’s 30th anniversary celebrations to life in the heart of Kuala Lumpur, while giving fans plenty more to look forward to in the months ahead.
